Version 1.0
Issue Date: May 2024

Qualification -
Unit of Competency MEM18069 - Maintain, repair instrumentation process control analysers
Description
Employability Skills
Learning Outcomes and Application This unit of competency defines the skills and knowledge required to perform preventative maintenance on process control analysers; complete fault documentation; plan corrective action; repair, replace, overhaul, calibrate and test; re-install and recommission process control analysers and applies to the use of electrical and electronic test equipment for transmission and signal measurement.Central to the task is the interpretation of electrical and electronic circuit diagrams and the interpretation of calibration and analysis data and procedures in accordance with manufacturers' data sheets. Where soldering of components is required to advanced or military specifications, where the reliability of electrical connections is critical, or where surface mounted devices are being soldered/desoldered then unit MEM05002 Perform high reliability soldering and desoldering should also be selected. Where diagnosis and repair of electronic equipment is undertaken to component level then unit MEM18056 Diagnose and repair analog equipment and components and unit MEM18065 Diagnose and repair digital equipment and components, should also be selected as appropriate. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.Band: BUnit Weight: 6

Submission Requirements

List each assessment task's title, type (eg project, observation/demonstration, essay, assignment, checklist) and due date here

Assessment task 1: [title]      Due date:

(add new lines for each of the assessment tasks)

Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.

This field allows for different work environments and conditions that may affect performance. Essential operating conditions that may be present (depending on the work situation, needs of the candidate, accessibility of the item, and local industry and regional contexts) are included.

Tasks include the use of one (1) or more of the following:

hygrometers

wet and dry bulb

calibration of gas cylinders and gas supply equipment

the use of chemical calibration solutions

the use of special calibration devices specific to chemical detectors

gas analysis devices

liquid analysis devices

Safety codes of practice includes one (1) or more of the following:

identification handling and appropriate use of high pressure gas cylinders

equipment

chemical solutions

Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.
